The financial department is the branch that performs the financial management necessary for the proper execution of all kinds of services performed by a regional education office. The role of this department is very important especially for the proper implementation of educational development plans. The main function of the finance branch is the payment of all staff salaries and the provision of various financial services belonging to the education zone, and many tasks including the purchase of goods and services and the provision of provisions for various functions are under the responsibility of this branch. Controlled under the guidance and supervision of the Accountant, this branch provides financial reporting and financial services.
The Role of the Financial Department
Preparation of annual draft financial estimates and receipt of financial allocations
Payment of taxes to academic and non-academic employees
Payment of overtime allowances, travel expenses and other allowances
Giving grants to private schools and pirives
Making payments for various programs and workshops.
Maintaining, controlling and regulating accounts
Management and control of financial resources
Payment of bursaries and related activities
Payment of water, electricity, taxes and telephone charges
Mu. Re. 104 (3) dealing with damage and loss of goods, carrying out preliminary investigations and recording all these damages through the disbursement account.
Carrying out activities related to the procurement process
Conduct surveys of school supplies, provide recommendations for stock balancing and disposal
Construction of school buildings, making payments for repairs
Financial progress reporting on all payments
Regular payment of officers’ advances and loans, reconciliation and control accounts and related activities
Preparation and settlement of year-end accounts
Comparison of general deposit accounts and control accounts
Obtaining and monitoring timely accounting reports of schools and educational institutions
To maintain financial discipline and transparency in the office and schools and implement necessary measures to reduce audit errors.
Payment of Pension Gratuity.
Activities related to maintaining bank accounts and preparation of monthly bank reconciliations.
Carrying out activities related to storage and stock control
Irregularities and frauds in resource management, reporting to the Regional Director and initiation of related disciplinary proceedings
Conducting internal evaluation of finance related activities
Perform other duties as assigned by the Regional Education Director from time to time
